Toyota Doubles Down on Arizona Proving Grounds with $50M Investment
Toyota Motor North America has announced a major expansion at its Arizona proving grounds, with more than $50 million allocated to construction of advanced testing amenities at the Arizona Mobility Test Center (AMTC at TAPG). Toyota’s ambitious infrastructure overhaul includes:
A 5.5‑mile high-speed oval track, alongside a second oval in development.
A brand-new off-road park and expanded ride‑and‑handling surfaces.
With completion aimed by late 2025, the enhanced facility will significantly broaden Toyota’s environmental test platforms and ADAS development capacity.
Since opening to partners in 2021, the grounds have hosted 37 companies, involving 286 test vehicles and generating over 203,400 hours of test time across 22 events. Managed by Intertek Transportation Technologies, the site offers turnkey testing solutions and tenant support.
Established in 1993, Toyota’s Arizona proving grounds span over 11,650 acres, featuring 77 miles of test surfaces (60 paved, 50+ off-road). It has long served as a key site for testing Toyota and Lexus vehicles bound for the North American market.
Toyota’s $50 million reinvestment at the Arizona proving grounds is more than a facility upgrade—it is a statement of long-term commitment. With enhanced test infrastructure, multi-party usage, and local government backing, this project lays the groundwork for future economic development and innovation. For Green Flag Hospitality, these improvements signal a promising horizon of new guests, events, and regional growth tied to automotive and mobility innovation.
